The best boys ever

Posted on: April 22, 2010

Every week my boys and I go to Mommy and Me at our church on Thursday Mornings.

We always go early, and then at the end we stay late, so the boys can help clean up.  I left early 1 week and it was horrible, as I had 2 tantruming boys and had to physically drag them out of there, and I had to have help getting them out.

Since then I have vowed, if at all possible, I would not do that again.  So we stay until every last item is put in it’s place.  I am positive it takes the gentleman who comes to clean up, at least, twice as long to get his work done because of the helpers, but he says he enjoys it.   They know how to gather all the toys, and to wait until each one is wiped down.  Then they put it on the cart, and help push the cart to each classroom to be unloaded.  At that point, they then help unload the cart, and get a ride back on the cart.

We then take all the playmats apart and pile on the cart, and put them away.  After all that is done, my boys will put on their shoes, come home, and go straight up for their naps, with usually no fight or discussion.

Today, I decided to reward them for such wonderful behaviour, and stopped on the way home for 2 old fashioned plain donuts from Tim Hortons.

I gave them each a donut, and they sat on the front porch steps and ate it, as I told them it was a picnic.  Jack’s response?  “MMMM I love picnics”.  LOL Ok so I am not very good at picnics, but they are both happily napping now.

I honestly think, I must have the best boys ever!
